The wellness center began as the dream of Margaret Emily Spence, a founding member of a church and bible school in Torrington, Jamaica. To further impact the community, Margaret hoped to one day use the land across the street from the church to build a simple children’s clinic, however, it never came to fruition. After Margaret's passing in 1989, the land on which she was buried and owned by her granddaughter was transferred by her parents to Margaret’s great granddaughter, Sharon M. Jones in 2007, who, after being extracted from Jamaica’s poverty at the tender age of 6 and sent to the the United Kingdom, then the United States with her parents desired to give back to the community in which she was raised.
